During a recent return trip to Lake Beuregard in France with John Hardy,Robert Petty and Gary Spencer, veteran Fen angler Mike Hawes hooked this huge Catfish estimated at 70lbs plus. The brute took a Red Berry boilie fished at 70 mtrs,tight to a snaggy tree lined margin. For about 5 minutes old grey beard huffed and puffed and squealed like a girl as the fish repeatedly tried to win its freedom ! old grey beard was not going to give up and eventually got the fish out into open water, and in the blink of an eye it was in the net.Mike will be very pleased to know that my net is still covered in slime and stinks like Grimsby fish docks.
