Welcome to the Premium Carp Fishing Website Sunday 5th of September 2010

Premium Carp

Premium Carp are our own strain and are supplied to us via a Kibbutz in Israel, responsible for their initial development.
When the fish reach 4-6 inches they are immunized against the KHV virus.

Our growing on ponds based here in the UK are stocked in early spring with fish of around 2-4lb. Fish of this size are stocked very lightly and they are not harvested for two to three summers. Supplementary feed is given from early May each year via demand feeders and continues until late October.
Growth rates to date have been extremely encouraging. Fish of 4-7lb with an average of 5.25lb were introduced into a growing on pond in October 2004 and in 2005 a test netting reveled 45 fish of 15-20lb with an average of 15.25lb.

This produced an average overall growth of 10.25lb per fish in one year.

At least five of the sampled fish had put on 13lb each during the course of one British summer.

Previous UK stockings

Quality carp are our business
We had supplied a few waters with these fish before the EA placed it’s temporary movement restriction on imported fish. These were fish direct from Israel as in February 2005 we still did not hold large enough stocks of our own.

In January 2005 2 separate UK waters were stocked with fish. Both had existing naive stocks and both had the legal section 30 agreements and health checks. The fish were high doubles to mid twenties and both customers are more than happy with the fish which have settled well and shown an excellent growth rate.

One customer has reported growth for one fish from 25.5lb to 37lb in one summer.

In January 2006 after Ten months of extensive tests the EA lifted the movement restrictions on these fish.

In March 2006 we supplied a further five fisheries with directly imported carp. These were big fish ranging from 15-40lb in weight.

Once again our customers were very happy with these fish.

The Future

A beautiful 30lb+ Premium Carp from our netting spring 2009
It is not our policy to continue with direct imports of large carp. It is our intention to import small carp to support out growing on program. Although we are not strictly against direct import it is our belief the UK customers would prefer British grown fish.

This particular strain of carp have only been around since the year 2000 and whilst it is still early days we believe the potential is huge. Carp of 30lb-40lb at the right price is going to be possible in the not too distant future.

It is without doubt that this particular strain has the potential to out-grow any other. In today’s competitive commercial fisheries market these fish will indeed put you ahead of the rest.

About KHV

Working together with CEFAS staff as part of an on going research program
Fishery managers need to be presented with all the facts in order that they are able to make an informed choice when looking to stock there waters.

Does the UK need these fish?

This is a commonly asked question and of great concern to many in the angling world.

Firstly it is a fact that KHV is present in some UK waters already.

Many fisheries have already experienced high losses due to unexplained causes. We have for many years researched this virus and have extensive knowledge in this area. It is our opinion and the opinion of many scientist worldwide and within the UK that fisheries stocking with KHV immunized fish are at a far lesser risk than a fishery who chooses to stock with naive carp.

The research has been carried out and the tests completed.
